The ‘I Woke Up Like This’ look doesn’t come naturally to me. In fact, to wake up looking fresh faced and presentable takes a little preparation with a selection of bedtime beauty products I can’t live without followed by a whole lot of sleep. The collection of products I’ve curated helps me to unwind at the end of the day, as well as indulge in a much-needed mini pamper session.
Before we dive into products, the key ingredient to my bedtime beauty routine is my bed. Without a bed, or a comfortable mattress, I wouldn’t be able to get that much needed beauty sleep. In fact, you’re supposed to change your mattress every seven to 10 years to ensure you get the best from it. Whatever you require Beds.net offer everything from beds, mattresses, toppers and accessories. I find that fresh sheets make for the ultimate night’s sleep too!
Do you know that the skin on your hands is a reflection of how old you actually are? So, it’s important to keep them hydrated. Although I don’t carry a hand cream with me throughout the day (I know I should), there’s always a bottle in my bedside drawer. Smothering my hands in a thick coat of cream is one of the last things I do before switching off and I find it really helps to keep my hands feeling soft and smooth.
If you’re an avid reader of my blog, then you’ll know when it comes to skincare I love oil-based products, and two I use every single night are a lip oil and cuticle oil. I find lip oils very nourishing and hydrating, and since your lips are one of two areas that don’t produce their own hydration, I love nothing more than applying a generous coating to my lips. Unlike lip oils, I’ve only been using a cuticle oil for a few months now. This is because I thought you couldn’t moisturise your nail beds when you get gel nails. Turns out that it’s a complete myth and that the more hydrated they are the longer your gels last. Not only does the cuticle oil I use condition my nails, but it’s infused with mint and eucalyptus, which creates an indulging scent that helps me get a better night’s sleep.
From oils to balms, another bedtime beauty product I can’t live without is an all-over body balm. Whether my face needs an overnight mask, my feet need some hydration, or my hair needs an intense conditioner, I feel like a balm ticks all the right boxes. Although a balm is a thick consistency, I don’t find them to be sticky (or at least the brand I use isn’t), but I find them great for delivering intense hydration, which is perfect during the colder months.
Now, my last essential isn’t exactly a product, but it is important when it comes to my bedtime beauty routine. I’m talking about water. No matter the day, or time, I always have a glass (it’s actually a pineapple bottle) of water on my bedside unit. Water is important when looking after the whole body, nevermind the skin, so I always try my best to drink a full bottle before going to bed.
