When winter comes there’s nothing I love more than hibernating; retreating to the comfort of my home, snuggling up and binge watching whatever is trending on Netflix. I know, it sounds like utter perfection, but before I settle down there’s a few things I need to ensure a happy hibernation. If you’re like me, then this is what you need when hibernating this winter.
Hibernation attire needs to be two things; comfortable and cosy. I’m a huge jeans lover, but when it comes to chilling in the house unfortunately these just don’t make the cut. During this time my wardrobe consists of loungewear, fluffy socks and slippers. Over the years I’ve learnt that you need to be prepared encase a random family member decides to pay a visit; this is wear loungewear comes in. Although I have no intentions of leaving the house, I sometimes feel like a sloth and a little unpresentable in pyjamas, whereas loungewear gives you all the comfort while looking a little more put together with minimal effort.
I always feel the cold too, so an essential throughout the year, never mind when I hibernate, are a pair of Sheepskin Slippers. Not only are they ridiculously comfortable, but they’re stylish, soft and keep my feet toasty warm. Plus, no matter your style, you’re bound to find a pair that suits your needs.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ll know that I had a slight (LOL, the biggest) Nutella addiction, which I overcame by giving it up, as well as, chocolate for lent. Yes, I no longer eat chocolate. Not because I’m being strict with myself, but because I no longer crave it, which throws a spanner into the works. Normally, there’s nothing I love more than indulging in a tub of Roses, or Quality Streets over the festive season, but this year is going to be a little different. We do have a dedicated snack draw in our house, but if I put anything in there I guarantee Corey will eat it, even if he doesn’t like it. So, I’m going to practice my cooking. I have a load of veggie/vegan books I’ve yet to use and although I’ve perfected making homemade soup, I really need to learn how to use my slow cooker and since food is essential during this time you best watch this space.
I hardly watch TV, but when I do, I can assure you it’s Netflix. On Netflix one thing I can’t do is watch multiple shows at once. I basically have to complete one series before moving on and starting another, so you can imagine I have a pretty big backlog of shows to watch! While hibernating I hope to watch TrueBlood, Dark, Shadow Hunters, Breaking Bad The Movie, Friends, One Tree Hill and anything else that catches me eye.
Life is all about balance and although I like to enjoy some downtime while hibernating, I also like to remain active. Yes, I have a gym membership, but on those days I don’t want to drive 10 minutes down the road (I know, it’s pure laziness) I complete my Lean With Lilly exercises from the comfort of my spare room. They’re free, simple to follow and require no weights, or machines. They’re perfect for when I’m feeling a little guilty about the amount of Christmas food I’ve consumed and although you only use your body weight, I can really feel the workout the next day. You can find all Lilly’s exercises over on her YouTube channel.
