A skincare routine is a curated collection of products that work together to ensure your complexion is functioning at its best, as well as target areas you want to improve. Skincare routines differ from person-to-person and while some can be really simple, others can be pretty complex. Personally, I build my skincare routine around staple products and today I’m talking about three types of products that always feature in my routine.
These are an SPF, a serum and a face mask. Now, the products in particular that I’ve been using for the last couple of months are from a brand called, Image Skincare. Image Skincare create products that are powered by safe, proven ingredients and smart botanicals that are set to help you achieve your healthiest skin ever.
Wearing an SPF is super important. I know many foundations contain an SPF, but I always like to apply a sunscreen to my face, neck and the top of my chest because you never know when you’re going to catch the sun. I know what you’re thinking we live in the UK, but I’m really pale and I’ve been scarred by sunburn in the past and I don’t want that happening again. So, I’d rather be safe than sorry.
The Prevention + Daily Matte Moisturiser SPF 32 is an oil-free, broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen that delivers a high sun protection in a mattifying, antioxidant-rich base that’s perfect for oily and acne-prone skin types. I have combination skin and I find this perfect for keeping my t-zone matte throughout the day. I find it absorbs into the skin quickly without leaving a residue, or a sticky/greasy feeling. Not only does this sunscreen smell incredible, but it also doubles as a primer giving natural glow to the skin.
Another staple product is a serum and a serum I’ve been incorporating into my skincare is the VITAL C Hydrating Antioxidant A C E Serum. This formula is infused with vitamins A, C, E and a power blend of plant antioxidants, including green tea and echinacea extracts that promise to help reduce the visible signs of aging, such as fine lines and dryness. Bearberry extract helps to brighten the skin’s appearance while a complex of five amino acids supports healthy collagen and elastin.
One thing I noticed about this serum before evening trying it was that it came in a dark bottle. Now, when you open a vitamin C serum and it comes in contact with air the compounds begin to change. It can also react to sunlight, which is why it’s in a dark bottle to preserve it for as long as possible. When using a serum like vitamin C it’s always important to wear an SPF too, so I usually apply a few drops of this on a morning before my sunscreen. I loved that this serum had a natural subtle scent of oranges to it and I have noticed that it has brightening my complexion. I’ve used vitamin C products in the past and they’ve tied my hands/skin before and I didn’t have this problem with this product.
A face mask isn’t something I use everyday, but it has been a product that I’ve used religiously, every week, for years. I always, without fail, have a #SkincareSunday session where I spend a little time giving my skin some much needed TLC. The mask I’ve been using for a number of weeks now is the I Mask Firming Transformation Mask.
This shimmery blue mask supports the skin’s ability to resist stress that contributes to the visible signs of skin aging. It contains rare pepper berry plant extract which promises to promote skin’s well being, while hyaluronic acid is set to help hydrate the skin. The mask also contains high-purity clays and jojoba beads, which help to polish away dullness and help to improve texture, tightness and tone.
I absolutely love everything about this face mask, from its colour to the way it leaves my skin feeling and looking. A little goes a long way, so I usually apply a thin layer of this all over my face using a mask applicator, as with the colour it can get a little messy. I tend to leave this on for around 30 mins while I was my hair and read my book, and once off my skin feels so soft and smooth. It feels really nourished and plumped. It’s such a lovely face mask and one I’ve really enjoyed using.
