I was first introduced to KIKO when it opened its store in the Bridges Shopping Centre, in Sunderland, and I’ve been a fan of the brand ever since. The quality of its products and the affordability, not to mention the range of products, is what drew me in and it’s what kept me going back for more. Sadly, my local store closed down (RIP), so it’s been a little while since I brought some new products. I thought I change that by picking up some new pieces and letting you know my thoughts about my recent haul…
Full Coverage Concealer
I’ve been after a cream concealer for AGES and I’d heard that the Full Coverage Concealer from KIKO was a dupe for the NARS Soft Matte Concealer and for more than half the price I’d thought I’d give this one a go. Combing high power coverage with a lightweight consistency, this concealer promises a non-greasy formula that also boasts anti-thickness pigments. I ordered shade one and on first impressions I thought it was far too yellow for my skin (I have fair skin with pink undertones). However, when I swatched it, the concealer was a really good match.
Non-greasy, this light, creamy concealer applied really easily and blended seamlessly underneath my eyes. I would say it’s a demi-matte finish, as it’s not matte, or dewy, but does give the skin a natural-looking glow. I’ve worn this alone and topped with powder and it all depends on the look you want to create. For a more natural look I like to apply this to my under eye with my finger, however, after a few hours it does move and crease slightly, but because it doesn’t cake I simply top it up. This is where the compact mirror comes in handy, especially when I’m on the move. I find on those days when I need a little staying power, topping the concealer off with powder ensures a smooth finish that lasts.
Unmeasurable Length Mascara
It takes a lot for a mascara to impress me and honestly I don’t overly love this o, but I don’t hate it either. It ticks all the boxes though; it’s black, it builds volume and it separates my lashes. One thing I love about KIKO mascaras is they are super affordable and there’s a HUGE selection to choose from. I do wish I’d chosen a waterproof mascara because I find this leaves black dots under my eyes, which is just a standard thing for me if I don’t use a waterproof mascara.
Everlasting Kajal Gel Liner
I brought this with the purpose of using it in my tightline, as the product description suggests it’s perfect for the waterline. This long-lasting, jet black kajal liner boasts a soft and creamy formula that promises to last for up to seven hours. I found it gave a precise application, however, I found it rather messy for my tightline. Within minutes of applying it to my tightline it transferred to my waterline and to the skin underneath my lashes. Since it’s a really intense colour and it’s soft, I’d quite like to see how this looks when applied to the eyelid and smoked out for a smoky winged eye. So, watch this space for an update!
Waterflower Magic Eyeliner
Now this is an eyeliner I can get on board with. Unlike your standard liquid liners, the Waterflower Magic Eyeliner boasts an angled felt tip, which has been perfectly adapted for the outer lash line. Highly pigmented, this liquid texture glides onto the lid with ease and thanks to the angled tip creating a winged eye couldn’t be easier. Ultra-black and long-lasting this liner is probably the best liquid liner I’ve ever tried. I just hope it’s here to stay as KIKO is known for discontinuing items.
Smart Blush And Bronzer
After the first application I knew I wouldn’t be reaching for this compact again. Listed as a bestseller on the website, this blusher and bronzer duo promises to evive the skin tone and sculpt the face. Personally, I found this duo really disappointing. The bronzer, even though this is the lightest shade, is far too orange for my skin and the blusher is so sheer. I found that I needed to apply, apply and apply again and I still struggled to see it on my skin. It might work for others, but it really didn’t work for me.
Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick
Before you even catch a glimpse of the lipstick your senses are filled with the delicious vanilla scent that’s enveloped in this metallic bullet. I love KIKO’s lipsticks and they’ve never failed me yet. Similar to the Charlotte Tilbury’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks, these creamy lipsticks boast a smooth, supple texture combined with an intense colour. The formula contains orchid extracts and hyaluronic filling spheres, which promise to leave the lips silky soft. I tried both the matte and glossy lipsticks, and like them both. I love how the glossy formula doesn’t leave the lips feeling sticky – I can’t wait to order more shades.
Have you tried any of the above? Are there any KIKO products you’d recommend?
