If you’d have told me a year ago that I would be obsessed with candles, wax burners and nice scents, I wouldn’t have believed you. But I guess it’s something that comes with having your own house, right? There’s nothing I love more than stepping into the rooms of my home and being welcomed by a gorgeous, can’t-get-enough-of-it fragrance. It’s comforting, it’s something I enjoy and, it’s safe to say, it’s something I’ve become obsessed with.
Just like Lydia Elise Millen, I too have a candle cupboard and as my obsession grows I’ve decided to make the change and only use cruelty free and vegan home fragrances. Why? Well, since having a home it’s made me more aware of what I’m buying and changing to cruelty free and vegan alternatives is something I’ve been doing for a while now. Starting with skincare and haircare to cleaning products and now, home fragrances.
Not only do I feel like I’m making a difference, but since changing to cruelty free and vegan products I’ve discovered so many local, independent businesses and Jasper & Jasper is one of them. Jasper & Jasper is a brand new, Northern-based business that produces unique and luxurious home fragrances that are vegan, cruelty free and environmentally friendly. Born from a love of animals, the name Jasper & Jasper actually stems from a super-cute rat named Jasper.
Before even trying the products, the packaging had me. It’s minimal, sleek and simple, which I absolutely love. Jasper & Jasper have two collections – The Black Collection, which boasts more rich and warming fragrances, and The White Collection, which has more light and uplifting scents. Personally, I love both, so I got the Island Breeze candle from The White Collection and the Arabian Nights wax melts from The Black Collection.
There’s nothing worse than a disappointing candle and I’m so happy that Jasper & Jasper deliver products with a powerful scent that lasts ages. The Island Breeze candle is a fusion of coconut, zesty lime and lemon, and creamy buttermilk – it’s a delicious combination that smells incredible. Plus, on some occasions the candle has crackled too, which, to me, is a sound I find really comforting. I find this fresh, light scent the perfect choice for my bedroom and dressing room. The candle itself is also a decent size and compared to other cruelty free candles I’ve tried, this one from Jasper & Jasper seems to last longer. So far I’ve burnt this for around 10-15 hours and it’s only a quarter of the way down. I think this is pretty good, as I’ve found other alternatives to burn a lot quicker.
I use the wax melts in my living room to make this space comforting for both Corey and I, as well as any guests we have over. This is why I chose Arabian Nights because these melts are rich and exotic. A blend of infused herbs, spices and floral essential oils, its scent is a mixture of vanilla, musk and sandalwood topped with jasmine, lavender, orange, lemon and grapefruit. They are absolutely devinine, in fact, I’ve already had complements on how nice my home smells! The melts themselves are a good size too and don’t take long to melt either, so the scent fills the room quite quickly.
Not only are they great for your home, but during this time of year they also make for great Christmas gifts too. I’m already planning to buy more for myself and for others. Browser its range of products over on www.jasperjasper.co.uk
