The Girl’s Guide To A Lazy Day In Bed

The Girl’s Guide To A Lazy Day In Bed

I have a love, hate relationship with my bed; I love being in it and I hate when I have to get out of it. Doesn’t everyone? Every week I promise myself a lie in at the weekend and nine times out of 10 it doesn’t ever happen. So, since I have a week off working coming very soon and I also have a brand new Leesa mattress, what better excuse than to take one day and spend it completely in bed.

When it comes to a lazy day in bed preparation is key. You know what they say; ‘fail to prepare, prepare to fail.’ The last thing you want to do is to have to get up a millions times, or wish you had this, or that at hand. So, to ensure I have the ultimate bed experience, I thought I’d put together the girl’s guide to a lazy day in bed…

Keep It Fresh
A lazy day is bed is something I hardly get to do, even when I’m poorly. So, you bet if I’m going to do it, I’m going to go all out and do it right, starting with fresh bedding. Is there a better feeling than snuggling up to freshly cleaned linen? I don’t think so. Clean bedding just gives you another good excuse to stay in bed and enjoy it.

Forget That Guilty Feeling
One reason I don’t do lazy days is because in the back of my mind I always feel guilty for not doing anything, but thanks to my new Leesa mattress those thoughts are gone. For example, for every 10 mattresses sold Leesa donate one mattress, and since October 2017 Leesa have donated 17,000 mattresses worldwide. Plus, for every mattress sold Leesa plant a tree to help offset its carbon footprint. So, technically my Leesa mattress has already done so much good that I’ve got nothing to feel guilty about by sitting on it all day, have I?

Comfort Is Key
The goal is to create a haven of comfort that’s so comfortable you do not want to move. So, in addition to your pillows and duvet, you may want a blanket and a couple of cushions, may be even your dressing gown. Personally, I don’t need pillows as my Leesa mattress boasts a unique combination of three foam layers, including Avena Foam, Memory Foam and Support Foam that adapts to my body providing optimum support and comfort. It’s unbelievably comfortable, so much so, that I really struggle to get out of bed on a morning. So, I guess this lazy day has come at the right time.

The Right Outfit Is Essential
Call me silly, but I see a lazy day in bed as a special occasion, so I like to dress for it. Normally I just wear long t-shirts for bed, but other times when I want to feel nice I wear little playsuits, onesies or crop tops and shorts. No matter what I wear it has to be matching though, I can’t mix match pyjamas just like I can’t wear odd socks.

Grab Some Reading Material
I’m still a girl that loves flicking through the pages of magazines and books, especially first thing in the morning. So, when I get sick of daytime TV (because after Jeremy Kyle what are you actually suppose to watch?) I’ll catch up with my favourite glossies and read a couple of chapters from a book I’m currently in to.

Keep Your Phone On Standby
I never intend on going on my phone when I’m in bed, but you all know how it is. You go to check one thing and then one hour later you’ve scrolled through your entire Instagram feed and still didn’t check on the thing you were suppose to. When having a lazy day, I prefer not to go on my phone, but I have it on standby just encase I need to check on what the rest of the world is doing.

Don’t Get Hangry
There’s only two reasons you should get out of bed on a lazy day and those are when heading to the bathroom and going to get food. For the latter I would prepare in advance because there’s nothing worse than when you’re hungry and there’s nothing in the house. Personally, I always go for pizza because pizza is life and you need your energy when spending the day in bed, right?

Find A Boxset
Believe it, or not, but not everything is on Netflix. My favourite boxset to watch is Sex and the City. Yes, I know it’s totally a cliche, but I do love it. So, after Jeremy Kyle this is my go-to. Plus, the reason for a bed day is to unwind and regenerate yourself and I find that Sex and the City really inspires me, which is something I need as I work in a pretty creative industry.

Pamper Yourself
Lazing in bed all day is the perfect excuse to pamper yourself, so use this time wisely and grab a face mask, or take some time to paint your nails. At least you’ll have a glowing complexion and freshly painted nails to show for the day.

More about my Leesa Mattress…
Did you know that you’re suppose to change your mattress every 7 – 10 years? I certainly didn’t. I can’t even remember when I got my last mattress – may be in my early teens? This was more than 10 years ago, which explains why my sleeping routine has been getting worse. With my old mattress not only was I struggling to get comfortable, I also found that I was having a lot of disrupted sleep. I don’t know about you, but I always feel more tired when I have disturbed sleep.

My sleeping experience with my Leesa has been so much better. From the moment I unrolled it from its box and lay down on its plush, foamy fabric, I knew I was going to have a brilliant night’s sleep. The Leesa mattress was designed with one goal in mind; to help people get a better night’s sleep and it’s certainly delivered. If you’re an avid watcher of my Instagram stories, then you’ll know lately I’ve been struggling to get out of bed. This is because it’s so damn comfortable. The Leesa mattress is different from my previous mattress because of the material its made from. It’s a unique combination of three foam layers – Avena foam, Memory foam and Support foam – that responds to your body, providing optimum comfort and support.

From the moment I get into bed the mattress adapts to my body and within next to no time I find myself in a deep sleep. This use to take me around 30-40 minutes, if longer, but because I’m so comfortable I drift away in no time. In addition to comfort, the Leesa mattress has improved Corey’s back and shoulder pain. Corey use to wake up really stiff all time – like he’d slept funny. Since we first slept on the Leesa mattress, which was over a month ago, he’s never once complained and I think it’s down to the unique foam combination and the added support.

I didn’t realise the difference a new mattress would make, but it’s helped both Corey and I get a better night’s sleep, which ensures we start every day right and never wake up on the wrong side.

OMG fresh clean bedding is the absolute best! It’s even better when you’ve had a bath and then you get into fresh sheets – nothing beats it!

I’m USELESS at lazy mornings in bed, I tend to naturally wake up at 5:00 am then I just can’t help but leap out of bed and start doing jobs so I definitely need to follow some of your tips!

Your new mattress sounds lovely, when we need to replace ours we’re definitely going to get one!

I always feel so guilty for taking some time in bed even if it’s just a longer lie in. A massive day in bed is very much needed for me right now. Stressed to the max!

Loved this post! I’m actually currently lying in my bed with a pizza and I just love it. My bed could do with a new mattress though so I’ll definitely check out Leesa.
