‘Gurl, you do you’ is a saying I’ve been putting into practice over the last couple of weeks. Learning when to take a break from life and just focus on myself, which is something we should all be doing. At the moment I feel like I’ve got my physical health covered, having gone back to dancing and dedicating more time to the gym and running, however, I think I’m lacking in other areas. This brings me to today’s post. I want to ensure that all of me is well looked after, so not only am I trying a bunch of new products, but I’m also rekindling the love I had for some old hobbies. So, take a look, here’s the new things I’m trying for my mind, body and soul…
I like to think I have a healthy diet and that everything is in balance, but I know for a fact that I don’t get all the vitamins and minerals my body needs. I know a lot of people who take multivitamins daily and cod liver oils, and it’s got me thinking that maybe I should be looking after myself from the inside too. I always find that if I’m tired, hungover, or even stressed my brain doesn’t work properly, so I thought I would try 5 HTP from TrueVit. These vitamins focus on cognitive function and performance, directly converting 5 HTP in the brain to serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical used in the brain and when serotonin levels are low they can compromise healthy and normal brain function. Having a job that requires a lot of brain power, I’m hoping these vitamins work – I’ll keep you updated!
To ensure the rest of my body gets some extra vitamins, I’m also trying out LQ Liquid Health for skin, hair and nails. These 50ml shots are set to have more active ingredients that 10-12 pills and are scientifically formulated to support healthy skin, hair and nails. Some of the active ingredients include collagen, hyaluronic acid, biotin and resveratrol and many more. They also contain bioavailability, which allows for faster absorption rates, higher optimisation rates and are easily digestible compared to other supplement brands.
When I think about my body I think about my skin and at the moment I’m upping my skincare game to ensure my skin looks and feels its best. This is why I’m excited to try the Global Protection Day Cream, Gentle Cleansing Milk and Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask from the best-selling Evercalm collection from REN Skincare, perfect for sensitive skin. These products are designed to reduce redness and calm irritation while using clean bio-actives to help protect sensitive skin against harmful pollutants. The smoothing plant and mineral actives within them also work to moisture and protect, while the gentle formulas gives skin room to breathe.
Avid readers will know I’m all about anti-aging, and the Gentle Cleansing Milk not only keeps the skin feeling calm and clean, but is developed to help fortify the skin against signs of premature aging. So, while removing dirt and make-up the cleanser also bolsters skin’s resistance to harmful free radicals and keeps the skin looking refreshed and soothed.
I want skin hydrated skin that looks healthy and glowing, which is exactly what the Protection Day Cream promises. Designed to repair the skin’s natural barriers this cream has been developed to combat redness, protect against the signs of aging and leave skin looking radiant. A face mask is a staple in my skincare routine and the Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask promises to calm red and irritated skin, as well as moisture, de-stress and comfort the skin.
Before blogging came into my life, I dedicated my spare time to two things; dancing and reading. Now, if you caught my previous post on turning negative energy into positive changes, then you’ll know I’ve already taken a HUGE step and walked back into a dance studio. Six weeks on and I’m absolutely loving it, I really wish I plucked up the courage sooner, but I guess everything happens for a reason. At the moment I’m focusing on my second love; reading. Taking time out of your day to switch off the technology and focus on something for you is so good for your soul. I plan to immerse myself in a non-frictional world where I can switch off my brain and get lost in the lives of paper characters. So, if you have any good book recommendations – hit me up!
