From the moment Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty I’ve been so eager to try the products, but the only problem is the nearest counter to me is a two-hour drive away. I know I could have tried the products so much sooner if I bought them online, but I prefer to visit a counter because I like to swatch, touch, test and – if I need to – speak to a make-up artist.
Luckily, for me, I was in Leeds a few weeks ago and although I was on a hen do I did manage to squeeze in a quick trip to Harvey Nichols. I headed straight for the FB counter and after being colour matched and talking to an assistant I left with the Pro Filt’r Foundation and a Killawatt highlighter palette.
I was surprised to find that the products weren’t as expensive as I thought they would be. The foundation is £26 for 32ml, which I thought was pretty decent considering I’ve paid a lot more for less product when buying other high end foundations. The highligher was also £26, which I thought was a little expensive, however, you do get two highlighters in one. On first impressions I love the simplicity of the brand and packaging, and thought the products felt very luxurious.
The one product I definitely wanted was the Pro Filt’r Foundation and I was so happy to find that I wasn’t the lightest shade. I can sometimes struggle with finding the right shade of foundation because they’re usually too yellow toned, or just white. In FB I’m the shade 120 and I think the colour match is absolutely perfect and it doesn’t oxidise either when I’m wearing it.
On application the foundation is a lightweight liquid that’s really easy to apply and blend. Once applied the foundation gives a matte finish to the skin with a medium coverage. The foundation is buildable, so you can achieve a full coverage look without the skin looking cakey. If you’re like me and have days where you’re make-up can’t fail you, then you’ll love this foundation. No matter whether you set this foundation with powder, or leave it, it lasts all day. I can leave the office after work and head out and this foundation will stay be in place.
I have to admit I didn’t go to the FB counter to get a highlighter, but as soon as the make-up artist dabbed some onto my skin (she’d wiped mine off when colour matching me) I had to have it. I went for the duo Killawat palette with the shades Lightning Dust and Fire Crystal. I mean who could resist these? They are so damn gorgeous – just look at that shine!
Both Lightning Dust and Fire Crystal feel creamy in consistency and blend effortlessly onto the skin. Lightning Dust is more of a subtle shine, while Fire Crystal has more of a shimmer to it. Both give the skin a gorgeous glow without looking too full on, or glittery.
Have you tried anything from Fenty Beauty? Is there anything you would recommend?
