We’re the kids in America (oohhhoooo), or at least we will be pretty soon. Corey and I are planning our BIG 10 year anniversary, which takes place next September, and we thought we’d celebrate by taking a trip to New York City. It’s something we’ve talked about for years and – after buying the house – it’s something we’re finally getting around to doing. Nothing is officially booked yet, as we’re still comparing hotels and prices from different travel agents. My friends have also recommended lots of hotels like the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan hotel so we will have to look into them. But that isn’t stopping my mind running away with ideas on what I want to do when we’re there. Here’s the 10 things I want to do and see in New York City…
1, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Yes, I’m talking about a bacon sandwich in one hand and a Starbucks in the other, stood outside of Tiffany’s. Weird I know, but something I’ve always strangely wanted to do. I think I saw it in a movie once and it’s just stuck. Plus, there’s no harm in looking instore after, y’know, since he is wanting some ideas.
2, A Corndog.
Are these even real? I saw these in Princess Diaries, as well as a ton of other movies, and I just really want to try one. In my mind they are a batter hotdog on a stick and with a bit of red sauce I think they’ll taste pretty epic.
3, 911 Memorial.
I’ve seen photos, videos and documentaries, but nothing can quite compare to standing in front of it. I remember coming in from school and seeing it on the news. Such horror, fear and sadness. I know I’ll end up balling my eyes out, but I want to visit the 911 museum. I want to
4, The Apartment.
Those famous steps that have seen it all. If you’re avid fans of Sex And The City then you’ll know I’m talking about the steps leading to Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. Being a writer myself, I love the character that Sarah Jessica Parker played and I think every girl could relate to her. I think the steps are actually roped off from the public, but that won’t stop me catching a glimpse of them. Corey doesn’t know this yet, but isn’t he going to be thrilled when I tell him, haha.
5, Brooklyn Bridge.
Corey’s favourite place in NYC. I’m not sure why, but I can’t wait to find out.
Does a girl need a reason to shop where make-up is concerned? We don’t have a Sephora in the UK, so you bet I’m going to make the most of this opportunity while in NYC. Pass me a basket because this shopping trip isn’t going to be light.
7, Empire State Building.
A tourist attraction that has always been on my list of things to see. I don’t care how long the queue is, I will wait forever to get to the top and see the city from the sky.
8, Bloomingdales & Macy’s.
Remember those cute little Bloomingdales bags? I got one from my grandma – who’s been to NYC many times – years ago and she’s forever telling me that the shopping is just on another level in America. Even my debit card is an eager beaver!
9, Central Park & Perk.
I’d personally love to visit Central Park in the winter with the ice rink, but I think we’ll be going earlier in the year. Still, I bet it’s absolutely beautiful to walk around and explore. I’m a huge Friends fan (who isn’t?) so too rights am I visiting Central Perk while I’m there!
10, 24hr Everythannng!
One thing I loved when I went to Miami was the food, but the fact that it was available all the time. If I wanted a Subway at 3am I could just walk down the three and get one, which I did, topped with a family-size packet of Cheetos. Corey tells me all the time that the food is amazing and I can’t wait for my taste buds and I to experience it all.
We’re still looking into hotels and accommodation, so if you have any recommendations please let me know. Also if you’ve been before and know any good restaurants, or places we must visit then, again, let me know. I want to experience it all!
