When it comes to clothing I’m somewhat a creature of habit. If I feel I look good in something, then I’ll stick with it and probably buy it in every colour imaginable. This usually results in me wearing the same item of clothing, or outfit all the time, which let’s face it, can get pretty boring and predictable. So, I’ve decided this season I’m going to shake up my wardrobe, which is why I’ve made my five style commandments for S/S18.
Do Ditch The Jeans…
No matter the season, I always favour my plain, skinny-legged denim jeans over anything else. It’s doesn’t make a difference how hot it is, or where I’m going, jeans and a top seem to be my staple. This commandment is going to be the hardest one to stick to, but to ensure I ditch the jeans for good this S/S18 I’ve invested in a variety of cute, dainty dresses. I honestly thought dresses would be a pain, but they are surprisingly comfortable and are an effortless approach to looking super stylish.
Do Invest In A Two Piece…
If there’s one thing I love to see when scrolling through my Instagram it’s a two piece. I absolutely love them and I think they are so bang-on-trend right now, but me being me always puts myself off purchasing one because I think I don’t suit them. Well it’s tough shit because I’ve went and ordered a gorgeous monochrome, dotty one. I’m not sure where, or when I’ll wear it, so if you have any suggestions let me know. And if I don’t suit it? Well life is too short to worry about that!
Don’t Put Yourself Down…
For years I’ve stopped myself wearing certain things because when I do try something new I get this anxious feeling that everyone is laughing at me. Well, like I said before, life is too short. This S/S18 I’m having fun with fashion and trying my best to put my inserturies aside. Even if I feel like something doesn’t totally suit me, I’m going to try and find one thing I do like about the outfit and just rock it anyway – because what’s style without a little confidence?
Do Experience With Lengths
I’m talking about skirts here, something I don’t think I wore since school. I don’t know why I stay away from skirts because they can actually be super flattering and can turn an outfit from day to night. I’ve actually bought a selection of different skirts, ranging from short to ankle-length. I’m not sure what suits me yet, but I guess that’s the fun of experimenting, right?
Do Push The Boundaries…
Face jewels, off-beat hairstyles and different make-up, this S/S18 I want to push the boundaries a little. To be honest, I would happily wear face jewels all day, every day. I absolutely LOVE the sparkle and feeling like a mermaid heading to a festival. While I might just save these for the weekend, I do promise to try new hairstyles and mix up my make-up palette, whether that means creating a more natural look, or going a little bolder.
