Operation transform box bedroom into boss babe office has commenced. My house luckily came with not one, but two spare bedrooms and while Corey claimed the largest of the two for his games room, I’m busy transforming the smaller one into my very own blogging office.
Ideally, there’s nothing I’d love more than a full-on-Carrie-Bradshaw-inspired walk-in wardrobe, but unfortunately, if you read all about my 12-month plan, then you’ll know I don’t have the clothing to fill the space. So, I’m creating a boss babe office; a room where I can have a desk and a dedicated blogging area, a space for my dream vanity table and Insta-worthy make-up organisers and a place where I can proudly display all my shoes and handbags. Also, a friend of mine recommended that I look into something like Top Class Signs and Printing, as I have made it aware of how I want inspirational quotes plastered on the wall and maybe a sign too. We only want the best. I’ll look into it. Basically, a room that’s all mine.
While I’m waiting out until I’ve found the perfect desk and vanity table (if you have any recommendations please let me know) I’ve been filling the room with what I’ve dubbed as ‘boss babe blogging office’ essentials. I haven’t yet decided what chair I’m going to use for my work, but a friend of mine told me to have a look at somewhere like Office Monster for some ideas. As of yet though I’m not sure if I’m going to go down the ‘office’ road for my furniture or the ‘home’ road. Many businesses have started employing people to work at home as this eliminates the need for them to invest money in buying an office unit for their employees. This will save the business lots of money and may save them from having to organise a merchant advance. If you are wondering, what is a merchant cash advance? You should check out delancey street!
If you follow me on Pinterest, you’ll know I’m a sucker for a good quote. I plan on hanging picture frames filled with quotes, personal photos and other images around the wall where my desk will be. I find surrounding myself with positive quotes and other pretty images helps to motivate me, and since this is going to be my blogging area it’s a must! To start off my wall I have this classic Coco Chanel print, which I think will also tie in nicely with my beauty/bag/shoe area.
I’m sure other bloggers out there will agree with me; when I’m writing coffee and tea fuel me. I never sit down to write without some form of beverage, which is why a cup and coaster is an essential. It’s definitely the blogger in me, but I always choose an Insta-worthy cup because you never know when you’re going to snap a pic. Now, I never would have said a coaster was an essential, however, it’s been drilled into me from my mam. Hot objects and surfaces don’t mix and I would hate to damage my desk, or vanity table, so a coaster in my blogging offer is a must too, and if it’s sporting a motivational quote that’s even better, right?
Now, the most important essentials – stationery. I use any excuse to buy more stationery. I know a lot of people use their phones to write down notes and keep track of blog posts and ideas, but I still love writing things down. Yes, actually taking a pen and putting it to paper. I do have a diary, but when it comes to blogging I like to use a daily planner and a weekly planner. I love using a daily planner to write down everything I NEED to get done that day. I get so easily distracted when on my laptop, so having a list means it’s official and I have to do it. Plus, it’s super satisfying when I tick it off. In addition to this I love using a weekly planner to keep track of what I’m doing that week with the blog, so I’m always ahead.
These are the essentials I have so far, but the list could go on. Pens, plants and cute chair for the corner, a full-length mirror… I could be here all day. What essentials would you have in your own blogging office? Do you have a dedicated blogging area in your home?
