Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. No matter whether I’ve stuffed my face the night before, or had a wild night out, I can always find room for breakfast. Across the North East there’s an abundance of amazing eateries to dine out at and today I’ve teamed up with Last Night of Freedom to put together a short guide to the best hangover breakfasts in Newcastle to ensure you start your day right…
Located in Heaton this little quirky café is popular with locals and visitors alike. Savour an extensive American-style breakfast menu that boasts plenty of classic dishes, including their famous Buttermilk Pancakes. Although celebrated for its sweet treats, you can also enjoy creating your own full English with its make your own section on the menu.
This little gem is discreetly tucked away between upmarket and the trendy Ouseburn Valley. Although little out of the action of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, Ernest is the definition of hipster heaven. The atmosphere is bright, lively and energetic not only will it feed your soul but also your hangover. Full to the rim with carbs you can soak up all the alcohol from the night before or enjoy one of their more creative dishes.
Although situated in the lively shopping centre, this unassuming breakfast cafe boasts a wealth of wholesome healthy food with an emphasis on local produce. The menu can vary depending on what’s available, however, its slick and sophisticated level setting and surrounding trees give it the vibe of a secluded little Parisian café. Making it perfect relaxing spot to ease your hangover pain.
Popular with tourists with BALTIC is the perfect place to soak up some the city’s finer culture while enjoying a more delicate breakfast. The menu is simple and stylish; big breakfast sandwiches, baked beans on toasted sourdough and toasted Northumbrian teacakes with jam and butter. If you’ve come to the fabulous toon on your stag or hen weekend, a wholesome breakfast and a walk along the river in the morning sunshine is the perfect medicine for your hangover.
This is one for the meat lovers. With two restaurants located in both in Newcastle and Jesmond, you are never too far away from your hearty hangover cure! The whole vibe optimises pride in local produce and the chain even rears its own livestock from its own farm. Enjoy dishes such as, ‘Big Ass Breakfast Sarnie’, and ‘The All In’ – a platter of bacon, sausages, black pudding, beans, potatoes and eggs. If this doesn’t cure your hangover I don’t know what will!

Pizza for breakfast? YES, so much yes! Relive your childhood dream of being able to have pizza for breakfast at the Herb Garden. Unlike the cold pizza left from the night before, you can enjoy the delightful the restaurants signature pizzas with special breakfast toppings. The menu comprises of sweet and savoury breakfast pizzas, including the ‘Breakfast in Bed,’ which is laden with chocolate, hazelnut and banana, then drizzled with honey and finished with vanilla ice cream.
