A clear, healthy and youthful-looking complexion is something I always strive to maintain, but when it does act out there’s always a reason behind it. Whether it’s hormones, changes to the environment, something in my daily routine, or even my emotions, I feel like my skin is the first thing to tell me if there’s something I need to change. Lately, my skin has been a strange combination; dry patches, spotty, a little red and the bags under my eyes have been more prominent. At first I blamed my period, but then I realised it was due to tiredness and stress.
In a bid to get my skin back to ‘normal’ I introduced the MATIS Night Care Mask and Essential Lotion into my skincare routine. I’ve been using these products for a number of weeks now, and I have to say the difference they’ve made have been pretty impressive.
If you’ve an avid reader, you’ll know I’m not a novice when it comes to MATIS; I’ve tried a number of its products before including the Responsive Corrective LipControl and the Response Jeunesse Cream and Serum.
For those of you who don’t know MATIS is a luxury French skincare brand that was foundered more than 78 years ago. Fast-forward to today and the brand is recognised worldwide as a beauty expert with a particularly innovative ‘Made In France’ know-how. Dubbed a pioneer in professional beauty treatments, MATIS uses unique methods and techniques, which is why its products are quite exclusive, and are only available in selected spas and salons across the North East, online and on Feelunique.
Since receiving these products weeks ago I’ve been using the Essential Lotion every morning, evening and throughout the day, and the Night Care Mask every evening. The Night Care Mask is a face mask that you leave on overnight as it promises to deliver intense relaxation for sensitive and stressed skin.
The cream itself is light in texture, but thick in consistency. Every evening I’ve been applying a generous layer to both my face and neck; moisturising your neck is super important too! The cream contains wild vegetable mango butter, which has nutritional properties allowing moisturising action to help protect and repair damaged skin. The cream doesn’t absorb quickly – my skin absorbs it throughout the night, however it doesn’t feel heavy, or greasy, and by the time I’ve woken up my skin feels so smooth, soft and plump. In addition to targeting sensitive and stressed areas, it also helps to hydrate your skin. The “hydra-gentle” polysaccharide brings an immediate hydration and assures that it lasts, which I’ve found it has.
Unlike the Night Care Mask that I only use on the evenings, I’ve been using the Essential Lotion every morning, evening throughout the day. Alcohol-free, the Essential Lotion can be used on all skin types and is basically a toner that leaves the skin feeling refreshed, clear, supple and toned. I’ve been using it on a morning and evening during my skincare routine after my cleanser to ensure any dirt, or make-up is removed.
One of the main reasons I love this toner is because it doesn’t sting, or burn, in fact the purple orchid extract offers soothing and protective protective properties while the rose water within the toner softens, soothes and has astringent properties.
I also keep the Essential Lotion on my desk at work, as I use it throughout the day. Whenever I feel like my skin needs a little pick me up, I simply spritz this all over my face even on top of make-up. We have a combination of moisturising agents, which are naturally present in the superficial layers of the epidermis and this toner helps them to retain water, so the skin has the perfect balance. Honestly you have no idea how amazing a little spritz is during the day. I work in front of a computer everyday and misting this over my skin for a few minutes not only leaves my skin feeling so refreshed and hydrated, but I also feel fresh-faced and ready to go afterwards. It’s definitely a multi-use product that has become a staple in my skincare and daily routine.
Have you used MATIS before? Do you suffer with sensitive, or stressed skin?
