I’ve been a fan of Millie Mackintosh since the MIC days and since then I’ve bought her book, I often buy pieces from her label and I’m constantly following her fitness and food updates of social media. So, when I saw she was launching a beauty range in Boots I was thrilled, so much so, that I added the majority of the collection to my birthday wishlist. Wishes granted, I got one of the make-up collections and after trying it for some months now, here’s my thoughts…
Firstly, I love the nude/pink packaging with rose gold detailing – it’s timeless, yet on-trend and I think it’s fluid with Millie’s style. I was expecting it to feel a little more luxurious and high-end, like her clothing line, however, I guess the packaging was designed like this to keep it affordable and in-keeping with other drug store brands. Secondly, I thought the range of products in the Couture Beauty Collection was brilliant for the price. For £30 you get a four-quad eyeshadow palette, bronzer, lip liner, lip gloss, eyeliner, eyebrow palette and face illuminator.
The eyeshadow palette really surprised me. I was expecting browns, as they’re a rather neutral tone, however, they were purple. I personally love purple because these colours enhance my green eyes. I have to be honest I didn’t have high expectations for the shadows, however, they totally impressed me. They were highly pigmented, and although they were a little hard to blend but once I got there I loved the results. I’ve wore these a couple of times over the last month and every time I have I’ve gotten quite a few compliments, which is always a good thing!
The bronzer is probably my favourite item from the collection. It’s hard to find a bronzer to complement my fair complexion, but this one isn’t too brown, or orange for me. I find it very easy to blend and I love that it comes with a mirror too.
I’m usually a liquid liner kind of girl, but I’ve really enjoyed using this one. Don’t let the dark blue packaging confuse you, it’s ultra black, easy to apply and doesn’t smudge throughout the day. I’ve actually been using this for my wings and I’m impressed with the precision the tip gives you. Again, I’m not a gloss girl either, but I’ve loved layering this on to of the nude/pink lip liner. This combination doesn’t dry out my lips and it’s soon become my everyday lip look.
I’m afraid nothing can quite drag me away from the ABH dipbrow pomade, so I haven’t actually tried the brow palette in this collection – sorry! If you’ve tried the dipbrow pomade, then I’m sure you’ll understand!
I have, however, stopped using the highlighter in the ABH Contour palette for this Face Illuminator. Radiant, gold liquid without the glitter but all the glow. I’ve been mixing this in with my foundation before I apply it to my face and then dabbing it on the tops of my cheeks, my cupid’s bow and my brow bones. I love that this highlighter has a subtle shimmer rather than that full-on glam glitter, and has became a staple in my everyday make-up routine.
Have you tried anything from the Millie Mackintosh beauty range? Is there a beauty brand you’re still dying to try?
