When it comes to beauty there’s always something new to learn; new brands, new products, new tips and tricks, it’s one of the reasons I’m an avid beauty lover and follower. So, when a new opportunity arose to visit the Beauty Retreat in John Lewis Newcastle, you can bet I wasn’t going to turn it down. The evening exceed my expectations, I left feeling inspired having discovered loads of new things. Here are just five things I learnt at the John Lewis Beauty Retreat…
I knew John Lewis, in Newcastle, had beauty counters, but I didn’t realise the store actually had its own Beauty Retreat. Located on the ground floor, the Beauty Retreat is a quaint spa that whisks you away from all the hustle and bustle and offers a range of luxurious treatments and quick beauty fixes. Inside this little haven is a collection of trusted beauty brands each with its own treatment room, as well as a relaxing reception area where you can have a cuppa and unwind with a magazine. From nails, brows and lashes to waxing, tanning, facials and massages, this retreat offers them all and more. Since I enjoyed the treatments so much, my friend told me to check out https://beautybooker.com/ and take a look at the treatments they offer. Having a beauty treatment makes me feel so refreshed and relaxed. I love them!
I’ve been meaning to try NARS for years now, so when the opportunity arose to talk products with a trained NARS professional, I just had to take it. The class taking place at the counter was how to create the NARS smoky eye, which was perfect for me as I always focus on my eyes. I couldn’t believe that in less than five minutes using only two crayons and her fingers that she created a dramatic, but soft smoky eye. I absolutely loved it. To be honest, I left feeling ready to hit the town! I was so impressed with the pigment, texture, colour and how easily the products blended. I even found out which concealer works for me and how to apply a liquid highlight seamlessly.
Did you know that you can contour your face with the correct hair style? Thanks to GHD and its brand new GHD Contour, now you can. I never thought about it before, but after visiting the GHD counter, using your hair to contour your face actually makes sense. First of all you have to find out your face shape, this is super important as this affects how you style your do. No matter what shape your face it and what style you want to create the new GHD Contour can deliver. Featuring advanced ceramic heat technology and multi-dimensional plates you can add depth, volume and bold textures to any look, to instantly enhance shape resulting in that contoured look. Not sure what your face type is? Visit the ladies at the counter and they’ll not only tell you but they’ll teach you how to create the look that suits your shape.
Everything I know about the brand Liz Earle has came from my mam, which means other than the name and the fact that my mam really likes the cleanser, is not very much. I have heard amazing things though, so wanting to know more I took the opportunity to visit its treatment room and discover the products for myself. I found out ALOT about Liz Earle in such a small amount of time. For example did you know that the brand has been around since 1995? It started on QVC, and here’s me thinking it was relatively new. All of the products are also plant-based and the products themselves are so affordable; the prices really surprised me. With that said I’m actually going to venture back so the ladies can give me a personalised skincare routine and show me even more products.
In Sunderland we sadly don’t have a Chanel counter, so you can bet that I was definitely going to visit the one in John Lewis. Here we were learning all about this season’s lip colours and they ranged from the classic nude to Chanel’s signature red, and even a bold orange. We were talking about how some lipsticks can bleed off the lips and I found that Chanel’s lip liners actually contain a high percentage of beeswax in them that actually stops this from happening. Perfect pouts all round then!
