If you’ve seen Night At The Museum then you’ll understand that sleeping under the same roof as a T-Rex is fun, daring and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
While it was only Ben Stiller who was allowed to roam those halls at night, I’ve been given a rare opportunity to spend the night at Newcastle’s Great North Museum: Hancock in its first ever adult only sleepover.
I’ll be one of 100 people who’ll get the chance to bed down next to the museum’s iconic exhibits, including its Egyptian mummies and dinosaurs, as well as being granted after-hour access to the forthcoming exhibition Bones: Skeleton Secrets of the Animal World.
I’m beyond excited. All I’ve got is clips of the movie running through my mind. I mean, I know the wooly mammoth is going to start running around and the big headed statue isn’t going to start popping gum, but you never know what’s going to happen when the doors close to the public.
As you can imagine there’s going to be plenty of interesting collections and stand-alone pieces to see, and that’s not all. Guests and I are going to be treated to live music from North East band, The Cornshed Sisters, as well as a late night DJ, nibbles, games and activities and tipples.
I honestly don’t know what to expect, I’ve never been to an event like this before. It’s totally unique to the North East and it’s a fantastic chance to dive into some history and culture, as well as party in a super-cool venue.
For those who are interested in this unique event, tickets are still available at www.ticketsource.co.uk. Compared to the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, which both charge £180 for their adult sleepovers, these tickets are less than half price – great value for something this rare.
Now, what on earth to I pack to an adult sleepover? I was thinking of taking my Spongebob onesie or is that too much?
Have you been to an event like this before? What’s your favourite part of Night At The Museum?
