Occasion wear and luxury high street brand, Coast has recently opened its first concept store in the Platinum Mall of the Intu Metrocentre. This stand-alone store, which is the first of many, has came about due to the fashion retailer undergoing a rebrand.
I attended its VIP launch event to see what the new store has to offer and to take a look at its A/W16 collection along with exclusive outfits that are dedicated to the Metrocentre store.
When I think of Coast I think of glamorous dresses that fuse fast-fashion trends with designer detailing, and that’s exactly what I found on my visit. Expect dresses and separates that are perfect for the party season, key staple knits and a variety of statement accessories and killer footwear.
The items in store boast clean lines, flattering cuts and a clash of textures. Metallic touches, embroidery and shimmering beading are fluid throughout the whole collection, while a few more luxurious pieces feature feather detailing, which is a classic Coast trait.
At first I was like a rabbit caught in the headlights, I honestly had to know clue what to look at or try on first. There’s so much to choose from, but after doing a couple of laps around the store I gathered a selection of jumpers and dresses and finally made my way to the changing rooms.
I’ll just warn you now these are no ordinary changing rooms. With plush furnishings and a wall filled with floor-length mirrors, it’s like a dream walk-in-wardrobe. There’s even a selection of designer books on hand for inspiration and an iPad that takes you straight to the Coast website.
Trying on my selection of clothes with some of my friends was the most fun I’ve ever had in a changing room. Having a mirrored part outside of the individual fitting rooms makes for the perfect place twirl around, strut your stuff, take some snaps and swap thoughts on one anothers outfits.
During my second try on session, I fell in love with this gorgeous Cavalleri Bardot velvet dress. When l saw this dress on the hanger I instantly though I wouldn’t suit it, however, I absolutely adore the velvet trend so I gave it a go.
I’m so glad I did because as soon as I zipped this up I felt utterly amazing. I know to some I might not look it, but I felt like a superstar and dare I say it, sexy. It fit perfectly in all the right places and I found it was very flattering for my shape, plus the colour and fabric was beautiful. I can’t wait to wear it.
When you enter the fitting rooms you can’t help but notice the glittering accessories area, and one thing that caught my eye was this party clutch bag. This Lulu Guinness-inspired bag is a statement piece that would complement any outfit and is ideal for the festive season. (It even has a lipstick on, how could you not love it?!)
Have you been to Coast in the Metrocentre yet? What do you think of the clothing at Coast? Are you going to any parties this season and are struggling to find something to wear?
