On my recent trip to Boots the Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Lip Paints caught my eye and since I’m an avid lipstick and lip gloss hoarder, you betcha they came home with me. I was also looking at the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks, but the voice inside my head told me to put them back because I already own SO many lip products. I’m really disappointed I listened to her, however, I’m not disappointed with the ones I walked away with.
Different to any other lip product I’ve bought before, the Maybelline Colour Drama packaging is in a squeezy tube with a fluffy doe-foot applicator. Personally, I think the packaging is really cute, a little different and ideal for popping into your bag.
They’re priced at £4.99 and I got two because Boots had a buy one, get one half price. I chose two very staple colours; Stripped Down, a pinky nude, and Red-dy Or Not, a dull red colour. The applicator makes applying these lip paints really easy, however, you have to squeeze quite hard to get the product out. I personally think this is a good thing because there’s nothing worse than squeezing a little and having a lot of product go everywhere.
I’m so happy with the colours I chose, particularly Stripped Down. It’s a little different to my usual nudes shades, rather than being super light it has undertones of pinks. It’s actually more of a light mauve colour, anyways I absolutely love it.
I can’t remember the last time I bought a lip gloss, as recently I’ve gone through a phase of wearing liquid lipsticks, but I really like the glossy finishes that these lip paints have. Since they’re glossy the lip paints aren’t drying to your lips, but I feel like they do come off quite easily.
For example when I have a cup of tea, I’ve found the whole rim of the cup is covered in the product, so I have to top it up quite often. I don’t know whether it’s because it’s a brighter colour and I notice it more, but Red-dy Or Not is very hard to manage. Even so, I love the colour and it hasn’t stopped me wearing it, I just need to make sure I check throughout the day that it hasn’t smudged.
Since trying these I’m really eager to try the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks to see how they compare. Has anyone tried these lip paints before or the matte lipsticks? What are your thoughts?
