A few weeks ago I picked up some Sleek Make-Up lip products and I fell in love with its Rioja Red Matte Me liquid lipsticks (have you seen it? It’s such a gorgeous shade). Since you can never have too many lipsticks or lip glosses, I went back to Superdrug and picked up three new shades.
There’s quite a few to choose from, but after swatching every single one I couldn’t resist taking Birthday Suit, Shabby Chic and Velvet Slipper home with me. I’m sure Superdrug had a 3 for 2 on at the time, but you can pick these up for £4.99, which I thought was quite reasonable for a lippy.
I don’t know what I love more about these products; the fact that they’re really pigmented or that even though they’re matte they don’t crumble or dry out my lips. Since my MAC Ruby Woo lippy drives me insane with its frustrating crumbliness, I would have to say the latter.
When you’re applying the liquid, which is a creamy consistency, it dries within a matter of seconds, but throughout the day it doesn’t crumble or irritate my lips. To be honest I hardly notice it’s on my lips when I’m wearing it.
For me the only time it requires topping up is after lunch and if I’m going out to an event after work. Compared to other products, some quite expensive in comparison, the Matte Me liquid lipsticks are pretty long-lasting.
I have to admit Birthday Suit has a different looking doe-foot applicator than the rest, and I don’t know if that’s down to a dodgy batch or just because it’s a different shade of lipstick. Whatever the weather, it still easy to apply.
I actually really love all of these colours and although I’m a nude kinda gurl through and through, I think I’m turning towards the pink shades more. I think it’s because they’re not ‘pop’ pink, they’re more of a dull, subtle pink, which I’m totally digging at the mo.
Have you tried these lippys before? What’s your go to lip shade? Are you a matte or gloss fan?
