When it comes to foundation I’m definitely a MAC kinda girl, but I’m always on the look out for a drugstore foundation that ticks all the right boxes. In my search I must have gone through every brand in Boots to try and find an affordable, everyday foundation I can rely on. After seeing the hype surrounding L’Oreal’s Infallible 24hr Matte Foundation, I just had to test it out, and you never know this could be the one.

Before I even got my hands on the foundation I had to decide between the standard Infallible Foundation, or the Infallible Matte Foundation. I strayed towards the standard because I haven’t got oily skin, but once I found my ideal colour match the decision was clear.

I found it really strange that although L’Oreal has the same shades in each range, they’re completely different. My shade, which is vanilla, was perfect in the matte range, but way off in the standard range – has anyone else come across this before?

I quickly found that a little of this goes a long way, which for the price is great value for money. It was a little darker than my skin colour, but with the help of MAC’s blotting powder I think it was a pretty decent match. It’s really hard for me to find the perfect colour with drugstore brands, it’s usually a choice between whiter-than-white or Simpson-yellow, but I found this was the closest match I’ve found yet – all that searching is paying off!

I was pleasantly surprised by the overall finish, not that I doubt you L’Oreal just I’ve had plenty of disappointments in the past. What I loved was it actually gave me the high coverage it promises on the bottle. I’ve tried ones in the past, which have claimed ‘high coverage’ but I could still see my bloody freckles! It also says it gives a medium texture, I’d love to say it did, but I have no idea what that means, anyone? And of course, a matte finish, which is my favourite kind of foundation finish – isn’t it everyones?

So, L’Oreal’s Matte Infallible is my current drugstore contender, but are there any others you think I should test out? Have any of you tried this foundation? Please share your thoughts with me!

Hi Sarah Jayne, I recently bought the foundation in matte also but i don’t have oily skin. I think it was the price that attracted me to it. It wasn’t much use to me however I now use it to help contour and highlight it works great that way if you don’t end up using it for overall coverage.

Was the shade to dark for you? Wow, I never thought of using it to contour with! :)

I was using this foundation for a good 6 months and I loved it, however the coverage is a little heavy for me and like you said you do have to be careful with the the shade choice.

I definitely agree with you. I love the coverage this gives but sometimes I have to be careful and make sure I blend properly. xx
