When Currys invited me to a coffee cocktail masterclass at Revolution, in Newcastle, I was very excited, curious and a little confused. Currys and coffee? It wasn’t until I arrived and saw the coffee machines that I put two and two together – Currys sells coffee machines, duuuuuuurrrrrrr Sarah!
The evening kicked off the right way, with a delicious, creamy coffee cocktail and a good catch up with some great bloggers, who I haven’t seen in awhile. We were then introduced to the organisers and told that during the masterclass two people would be the winners of two fabulous coffee machines.
Now I have to admit when ordering a cocktail coffee is far from my thoughts, I’m a mojito or morello cherry sour sort of girl. So, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like anything we made.
But, soon it was my turn along with four others to make our cocktails. One after another we added ice, Ameretto, cherry vodka, sugar syrup, a double shot of espresso and a splash of cream and milk before shaking it up and serving it in a flute glass.
I was nervous to try it – I mean a double shot of espresso with Ameretto and vodka? But, surprisingly it tasted delicious! Rather than having a bitter, coffee after taste, all you could was the cherry. It’s safe to say it went down a treat. And there’s only one way to end a cocktail master class and that’s with a shot!
The great thing about these type of events is having the time to meet new people. So, before food was served and the winners were announced, we were left to sip our tasty cocktails and mingle.
It was lovely to get chatting away to some new faces and getting to know about them and their blogs. And although I didn’t win a coffee machine I had a fabulous coffee filled evening and I hope to see everyone again soon at the next JoeBlogs event.
